The Pre-Kindergarten Program at Marina View Preschool is for children ages 4 to 5 years. This program offers the individual child the time and space to develop his/her potential thus supporting a smooth and positive transition into Kindergarten. This program provides a healthy balance of developmental learning and play combined with academic readiness and a more structured routine.
Classroom instruction includes language arts, phonics, mathematical concepts, science, and social studies kindergarten readiness. Children will learn colors, numbers, songs, and simple words in Spanish and Mandarin.
Children have a choice of materials and a freedom of movement in the classroom. However, freedom is directly related to their ability to use these materials with self-discipline.
The Pre-K child will spend a portion of their day rotating through Learning Centers which are set up in their classroom. They will also participate in whole group, small group, and independent activities allowing for success and individual growth. Pre-kindergarten children will also have outside playground time, music and movement, and will have a chance to visit our special Village.
Communication with Parents is provided weekly through the “Pre-Kindergarten Weekly Report” which is given to every parent on Friday of each week.
